Dr. Jane Fore is a physician that practices full time in the specialties of wound healing and hyperbaric medicine. She is board certified in internal medicine and hyperbaric medicine. She has been practicing this as a dedicated practice since 2003. She is the medical director of the Tri-State Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center in Clarkston, WA.

James McGuire

DPM, PT, CPed, FAPWHc

Dr. McGuire is the Director of the Leonard Abrams Center for Advanced Wound Healing and an Associate Professor in the Departments of Podiatric Medicine and Podiatric Biomechanics at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, located in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. McGuire earned his D.P.M. degree from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 1981. He completed a residency in podiatric surgery in Baltimore, MD, and is board certified by both the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS) and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM). He is a fellow and founding member of the Academy of Physicians in Wound Healing, and is a former board member of the Council for Medical Education and Testing. Dr. McGuire is also a licensed Physical Therapist, a certified Pedorthist, and is Certified in Wound Care by the Council for Medical Education and Testing (CMET).

Target Audience

This course was created for physicians who are involoved in the in the care of patients with acute and chronic wounds. This course is appropriate for both entry level practitioners as well as for experienced clinicians who want to review basic wound care concepts and best practice standards. The target audience is for medical practitioners of general practice, surgical, primary care physicians, dermatologists, family medicine and doctors of podiatric medicine. This course is designated for wound care professionals.

Objectives

The goal of this activity is a complex course relevant to diagnosis and treatment of non-healing wounds. The educational activity is clinically relevant to daily wound treatment and to educate providers to best practice to increase optimal patient outcomes and decrease patient morbidity.

Learning Objectives

Illustrate and analyze wound healing aspects that are related to and influenced by co-morbidities. Identification, diagnosis and treatment of skin pressure, vascular, ischemic and diabetic ulcers. Explain wound management: surgical and non-surgical; adjunctive therapeutic regimens.

ACCREDITATION

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the standards and requirements for approval of providers of continuing education in podiatric medicine through a joint provider agreement between Presence Saint Joseph Hospital-Chicago (PSJH-C) and Academy of Physicians in Wound Healing (APWH). PSJH-C is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education as a provider of continuing education in podiatric medicine. PSJH-C has approved this activity for a maximum of (12.35) continuing education contact hours.
